Room 7 have been doing the PMP programme for the last 2 terms. It was our last session on Friday.
PMP stands for Perceptual Motor Programme. It is a great programme that helps us to develop good, co-ordination, balance, strength and the ability to move and think at the same time. These are all skills we need in the classroom for reading and writing. It is also a lot of fun to use all the equipment.
Here are some photos of our latest session.
Eye tracking-We lay on our backs and watch a tennis ball that is slowly swaying. This helps us to develop our eye muscles. We need to use our eye muscles to track across the page when we are reading and writing. Sometimes our eyes only look straight ahead when we look at computer and tv screens so this helps our eyes get strong!
We were throwing the quoits and trying to get them over the post.
We were trying to move only our hips to make the hula hoop go.
And we needed to follow the map to know which way we needed to jump on the rhythym ball.
You could ask us about some of our other favourite pieces of equipment too!
