Rainbow Day

Rainbow Day
Yesterday was Rainbow Day. It was a great end to a fun week!
We had a rainbow theme for Discovery Time. We had rainbow paints, books to make, pictures to colour, face painting and we even iced rainbow biscuits.
Here are some photos of our day.

We all looked so colourful! Miss Smith nearly needed to wear sunglasses to look at everybody!
We made a rainbow with our clothes. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet!

We had a rainbow assembly. The whole school looked so cool and colourful!
There was a competition for the best dressed and we had a winner from our class. Yay!!
Samara and her mum made the most amazing rainbow cake! Thank you so much. We thought it was beautiful and couldn't wait to try it!

It tasted great and looked so cool. What a fun day!

PMP

Room 7 have been doing the PMP programme for the last 2 terms. It was our last session on Friday.
PMP stands for Perceptual Motor Programme. It is a great programme that helps us to develop good, co-ordination, balance, strength and the ability to move and think at the same time. These are all skills we need in the classroom for reading and writing. It is also a lot of fun to use all the equipment.
Here are some photos of our latest session.

Eye tracking-We lay on our backs and watch a tennis ball that is slowly swaying. This helps us to develop our eye muscles. We need to use our eye muscles to track across the page when we are reading and writing. Sometimes our eyes only look straight ahead when we look at computer and tv screens so this helps our eyes get strong!
We were throwing the quoits and trying to get them over the post.
We were trying to move only our hips to make the hula hoop go.
And we needed to follow the map to know which way we needed to jump on the rhythym ball.

You could ask us about some of our other favourite pieces of equipment too!

Come to Tea on Planet Zum-Zee

We read a book called 'Come to Tea on Planet Zum-Zee.'
We thought the food that they eat in the book was very funny! There were biscuits that make musical sounds when you bite them and jelly that giggles and lets off an icky smell.
We thought it would be fun to write our own menus.

Here are just some of the ideas we came up with....

Rainbow musical pancakes that are slippery and slimy. Serena, Hanna and Isabella.
Pink Pancakes. Nadia
Magical chips. Samara and Latasha
Dancing peas. Ava P-R.
Cake that makes you jiggle in your body and sparkly drinks to make you sparkle. Matthew and Cayden.
Cheese that comes right to you. Emma
Wriggling pancakes and ticklish cake. Kaylah and Brianna.

P.S. It was great to see parents and children at our Open Evening last week! It was great to see nthe children sharing their learning.
Also don't forget about Rainbow Week next week!
Monday- Gloucester
Tuesday- Whitemans
Wednesday- Gard
Thursday- Chatsworth
Friday- Rainbow Day

Olympic Sport Fashion Show

On Friday our buddy class visited Room 7 to make some newspaper clothes. Our buddy class is Room 4. The children are in Years 3 and 4.
Room 7 are learning about symbols being used to represent an idea. We have been looking at the symbols that have been used in the Olympics to represent each sport.
We decided it would be fun to dress 1 member of our group up in newspaper to represent an Olympic sport. We had some very creative ideas!

Here we are making our outfits.
 Here is our fashion show!

 We had a weight lifter.....

 .... a swimmer with goggles....

 .....and even a hockey player!

The Library

On Thursdays we visit the library. We like to look at the new displays that Mrs Cope puts up for all the children. We like to find a comfy place to look at books and choose new ones to take home. It is great to see so many people remembering to bring their books back. Here are some photos of us in the library.

We even read an e-book on the iPad!

We like going to the library!
